Kroger - a (brief) love affair

Unfortunately we no longer live near a Kroger/Smiths/(insert one of the many local affiliate names). Bummer. But when we did have a local Kroger, we got some AMAZING deals!

One of the best food-storage deals, I spent only $0.49 (including tax) for 8 assorted pastas through a sale at Kroger. Pastas were $0.49 a box when you buy 8 participating items. I was then able to use two $1 off 2 boxes of Healthy Harvest pasta coupons and two $0.75 off one Smart Taste pasta coupons. The math went something like this:

$3.92 in pasta ($0.49 X 8 pastas)
-$3.50 in coupons
= $0.42 for 8 pastas (plus $0.07 tax)

That's about a nickel per box!
That same sale also allowed me to stock up on my Kraft cheeses - priced at $0.99 each when you buy 8 participating products. Luckily I had four $1 off two packages of Kraft cheese coupons. That transaction looked something like this:

$7.92 in cheese ($0.99 X 8 cheeses)
-$4.00 in coupons
= $3.92 for 8 cheeses (plus tax)

. . . making each package of cheese about $.49!

Kroger also supplied us with plenty of cream cheese! Luckily Kraft's Huddle for Hunger coupon for $5 off 5 items coincided with Kroger's 10 item promotion! Philadelphia Cream cheese was priced at $0.99 each when you buy 10 items. That meant I walked away with 10 packages of cream cheese for FREE!

Kroger was also the place to score cheap Green Giant vegetables (priced at $1.28 - although Kroger doubled the $0.50 coupon which was available on www.coupon.com, making each bag only $0.28) and Betty Crocker Warm Delights (priced at $1.50 minus the $0.50 coupon from www.coupon.com which they also double - making them $0.50 each.)

Here's hoping that Kroger comes to the greater D.C. area!
